Do you get ‘bogged’ down with details when you write? Does your inner critic shout in your ear? Can a word, phrase or item propel you to the internet for
research? Is it hard to ‘just let it flow’?
Maybe try one, or all of these, little hints – you might surprise yourself.
Force yourself to write fast – type as quickly as you can, letting the words fall onto the paper/screen. Maybe set a time limit for this process, I have actually found this to be ‘freeing’ rather than limiting!

Leave your research until after you have finished. It doesn’t matter if there are little green or red lines all over the page, they can be rectified later. As can research into who said that or where that place is. If it helps leave a blank space or a small mark that will remind you where to go back to.
The hardest obstacle to overcome is your inner critic – find a way to silence him/her until the piece is finished. Assure them that this is a first draft and that their assistance will be required later. If that doesn’t work tell them to take a hike!
Also write as you would normally talk in the first person and address yourself as the reader. Once the words are written then go back and sort out the grammar. It’s allowed - after all a first draft always needs tweaking – it’s the nature of the beast so to speak.
Just relax and let it flow.
