What inspired you to write your first book? My dog, Sadie who was saved for a reason. Her mission is to have children with special needs to focus on what they can do and not what they can’t do. Also Sadie is teaching others to break the cycle of abuse.
How did you come up with the title? As we were writing, the name Superstars seemed natural.
Is this your first book? How many books have you written (published or unpublished)? First one, working on Sadie’s memoir.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Yes, as mentioned in the first question.
How much of the book is realistic? Sadie is a real dog, and Joal is also real, so 90%.
Are your characters based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Sadie is real and I am real.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? No.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Just the messages that Sadie has mentioned.
What is your favorite part/chapter of your book/project? Many emotions that readers can relate to in the book.
What is your favourite theme/genre to write? Dogs, obviously.
Is there one subject you would never write about as an author? What is it? Things that I am not familiar with.
What book are you reading now? Angel Come Home by Stuart R. Wisong
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? None off hand.
Do you see writing as a career? Not as a career, but as an inspirational story of hope to share.
Where do you see yourself in ten years? Helping other animals with special needs.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Writing Sadie’s memoir is more difficult than I thought. Sadie and the Superstars was relatively easy.
Have you ever hated something you wrote? No
What book do you wish you had written? I am thrilled to be writing Sadie’s memoir and I know that I would be deeply disappointed if I hadn’t.
What is your best marketing tip? Just get out there and talk to people who will give names of others for you to contact.
What genre is your next project? What is it about? Saving Sadie. How a dog that no one wanted ended up inspiring the world.
Can you tell us about your upcoming book? That is what it is. How a dog who was shot between the eyes and in the back after she had puppies and left for dead, ended up not only surviving but thriving. Sadie was urinary and fecally incontinent and couldn’t walk when i saw her at the animal shelter and asked the volunteer what Sadie’s story was. I took her to a few doctors who urged me to do the kind thing. But I saw something in Sadie’s eyes that told me differently. The third doctor, who is holistic said that we should give Sadie a chance and so we did. Now known in 15 countries and across the United States, Sadie teaches acceptance of people and animals who have special needs. This true story of inspiration deals with Sadie’s trials and tribulations and all of the people around the world who have sent their love, support, prayer cards and messages of love to Sadie. Sadie’s story is so large that it will attract a large audience.
How do we find your books, blog and bio? Working on some of it, but the children’s book, Sadie and the Superstars is on Amazon or at 2foreverfriends.com or there is a link on Sadie site, http://savingsadie.com/
