As author's and writer's we are aware of the 'trends' within our industry. We may decide to follow them, or not, it is entirely a personal choice. However, being current with our genre's changing mode, gives us an insight into what readers want. For genre specific authors, this may change the direction of a manuscript's plot, or how the narrative is presented and worded.

In 2024 there is a developing trend, which is a combination of romance with science fiction or fantasy. “Deeply emotional stories across all romance subgenres are striking chords with readers, but fantasy romance is really continuing to come into its own, along with dark romance.”

Apart from this is the increasing need for e-Books, and audio books, both of which are areas of exploration for authors in getting more exposure for their work. Unfortunately, AI, is also becoming 'popular' which is destroying true creativity. We must fight for limits on these software's to stop plagiarism. Luckily, there are some AI detectors launched by various businesses and corporations, including Amazon and Google to curb the explosion of illegal use of copyrighted material. There are also privacy concerns due to how OpenAI being able to train these types of software. We do not know what the future holds, but check your published works regularly to ensure it is not being used without your consent and/or without payment to you.

This leads us to creative and extraordinary book cover trends as well. So what await us in 2024?
