WORDSMITH’S COLLECTIVE THURSDAY – CHRISTMAS MARKETS – AN OPPORTUNITY

Home » Blog » WORDSMITH’S COLLECTIVE THURSDAY – CHRISTMAS MARKETS – AN OPPORTUNITY

At this time of year, there are a mulitude of seasonal markets we can attend. So many, in fact, we need to pick and choose on occassion as there can be conflicts with dates. This December, I am attending three markets, which are mainly local to me. In past year’s, I have traveled further afield and combined the market with a mini road trip.

With all events there is planning, packing and marketing to be maintained, prepared and promoted. Most of the promotion can be shared on our social media and newsletters, allowing our readers to meet us in person and get that signed edition of our book(s). Talking about my stories and explaining where the initial idea arose, or a summary of the plot line is a key element in in-person events.

I utilize a large suitcase with wheels for transporting everything I need. With eleven books and assessries it is heavy! Along with the suitcase are a couple of carrier bags with book stands, and other items, plus my author banner. Setting up and tearing down takes me around ten minutes. That’s how practiced I’ve become with table events over many years.

After my most recent event last Saturday, I spent some time the following day creating new signage for my table display. As you can see from the above image I just wrote on coloured cards last week. I’m excited to show off the new signs.

Every event gives us new ideas on how to entice people to our table, as well as highlighting our books. It is a learning curve that never ends.

What have you added to your table display?
