Tomorrow is the celebration of Jolabokaflod, or Yule Book Flood in Iceland. The name Jolabokaflod translates to “Christmas Book Flood.” The tradition is the giving and receiving of new books, but also the joy of reading them together all day on Christmas Eve and drinking hot cocoa.

As readers this is the essence of a perfect day for us. As most of us request books for gifts, it is the culmination of wish lists and hints to family and friends over the past few weeks.

Which books have you wished for this year?

Now, we can snuggle down under a cozy blanket and immerse ourselves in stories as we snack on delicious goodies and cherish reading time.

Once you have finished reading, please remember to give the author a short review after reading, just a sentence or two is enough. It is by far the best gift you can an author.

The last book of the year for me is The Summer of Us by Holly Chamberlin, which will make my year’s total 36 books in all – one more than expected. Unless of course I finish it prior to 1st January, which might happen! If you are interested in the books I read this year find them on my Goodreads profile. It is an eclectic mix, so something for everyone I think.

May you enjoy your festive celebrations and happy reading in 2026.
