As I had time to enjoy on my birthday, I decided to walk with my dog in the warmth of a Sunday morning sun. A gentle breeze refreshed as I brushed the grass heads gently with my hands, some were heavy cylindrical shapes while others had delicate soft fronds. There was an earthy aroma eminating from the dew sodden earth but the road surface was already hot under the sun’s rays. It occured to me then that I have not walked outside bare foot in a very long time. So I took off my shoes and relished the feeling of the hard warm surface under on soles and the connection through my feet to the ground.

Why not do something today to reconnect to childhood memories and activities, Mother Nature or delight in a new sensation? It may inspire a character’s experience or enable you to reflect and return to your writing refreshed.
