Although this week is usually my writing group’s sharing meeting, I will be attending another event, namely Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge. This event is a special celebration of volunteers in this 150th year of Canada. Each volunteer had to enter at least 150 hours in the year (easy for some – I have all my hours through the Writers Foundation and the Arts & Culture Council!) We will be presented with a special pin at Gallery 501, 120, 501 Festival Ave, Sherwood Park, AB T8A 4X3 on Tuesday 5th December at 7 pm.
My next event will be – DEC 9 10:00 – 4:00 pm Artists 4 Altruism Market and Fundraiser Four Points By Sheraton Edmonton South, 7230 Argyll Road, Edmonton, Alberta T6C 4A6. I will be attending with my publisher, Dream Write Publishing. This will be the second (or third) time we have participated in this event.
DEC 5 FINAL 3-2-1 Indie Slam Qualifier and Open Mic 19:00 – 21:00 pm The Nook Cafe 10153 97 street, Edmonton, Alberta T5J 0L4
DEC 7 Writers’ Guild of Alberta Holiday Party (YEG) The Almanac 10351-82 ave, Edmonton, Alberta T6E 1Z9 – I am hoping to attend this one.

My week has a mixture of events including a meeting with my client regarding my ghost writing project, the Volunteer Fair on Wednesday and Authors for Indies on Saturday.
Monday evening will be spent reviewing the book draft I have been working on for my client. We will utilize our local library for this meeting. It is such a wonderful space for working, reading and meetings.
Wednesday I will be doing double duty at the Volunteer Fair as secretary of my writers group, Writers Foundation of Strathcona County and as President of the Arts & Culture Council of Strathcona County. I was able to request the tables were side by side so that will help!
On Saturday I will join other local authors for Indies for Authors at the Sherwood Park Bookworm, a wonderful store full of all genres of books and a book readers dream place. I will be reading from 1-2 pm come down and hear wonderful stories, meet the authors and find your next favorite book.

Sorry for the late post I have been volunteering at another event today! The 3 Dimensions – Write, Edit, Publish – conference was amazing yesterday. It was certainly the total opposite of today’s word – Hebetude – definition: the state of being dull : lethargy.
I was assisting my publisher, Dream Write Publishing at their table in the marketplace on Saturday, where numerous other vendors were in attendance. Once we had set up the table we waited for the first influx of attendees – there were over 300 – to arrive and browse. With a constant supply of refreshments and snacks everyone was well catered for. After each session we would have another influx of interested people asking about Dream Write’s services and buying books, so we were kept busy answering questions and handing out information for Dream Write but also our writers group, The Writers Foundation of Strathcona County. It was a great interactive day with excellent networking opportunities for everyone that attended.
In all there were 24 separate sessions from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon. Linda and I attended the Friday evening wine and cheese reception and then enjoyed the keynote presenter, Alistair MacLeod in conversation with Shelagh Rogers. She is host of the CBC’s The Next Chapter and the interview was recorded for a future programme.
Today’s event could not have been so different! I volunteered with my daughter at her reptile club’s Spring show.
