Although this week is usually my writing group’s sharing meeting, I will be attending another event, namely Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge. This event is a special celebration of volunteers in this 150th year of Canada. Each volunteer had to enter at least 150 hours in the year (easy for some – I have all my hours through the Writers Foundation and the Arts & Culture Council!) We will be presented with a special pin at Gallery 501,  120, 501 Festival Ave, Sherwood Park, AB T8A 4X3 on Tuesday 5th December at 7 pm.

My week has a mixture of events including a meeting with my client regarding my ghost writing project, the Volunteer Fair on Wednesday and Authors for Indies on Saturday.

Monday evening will be spent reviewing the book draft I have been working on for my client. We will utilize our local library for this meeting. It is such a wonderful space for working, reading and meetings.

Strathcona-1

Wednesday I will be doing double duty at the Volunteer Fair as secretary of my writers group, Writers Foundation of Strathcona County and as President of the Arts & Culture Council of Strathcona County. I was able to request the tables were side by side so that will help!

3 Dimensions Conference Review…

May 26, 2013

Sorry for the late post I have been volunteering at another event today! The 3 Dimensions – Write, Edit, Publish – conference was amazing yesterday. It was certainly the total opposite of today’s word – Hebetude – definition: the state of being dull : lethargy.

I was assisting my publisher, Dream Write Publishing at their table in the marketplace on Saturday, where numerous other vendors were in attendance. Once we had set up the table we waited for the first influx of attendees – there were over 300 – to arrive and browse. With a constant supply of refreshments and snacks everyone was well catered for. After each session we would have another influx of interested people asking about Dream Write’s services and buying books, so we were kept busy answering questions and handing out information for Dream Write but also our writers group, The Writers Foundation of Strathcona County. It was a great interactive day with excellent networking opportunities for everyone that attended.

She is host of the CBC’s The Next Chapter and the interview was recorded for a future programme.
