We are all unique as people and writers alike. Our likes and dislikes as well as our ‘life experience’ influences how and what we write. As we learn our art, we ‘grow’ as a writer drawing from new skills, acquired knowledge and through practice.
What makes you unique? A culmination of places you have lived, people you have known, challenges life has set you – all can become the basis of your writing – your individuality – your ‘voice’.
My uniqueness is drawn from the essence of several continents, which have left a trace of their spirit on my soul. The heat and drum beats of Africa, the lushness and history of England and the changing seasons and vast open spaces of Canada. Each has given me a gift – a treasure trove of sights, sounds, smells and experiences – I can weave into my stories or draw insights from.
Where does your uniqueness come from?
