Without the support and encouragement of my writers group, I sincerely think I would not have written so consistently or persevered with my writing at all. The famous saying of ‘a writer’s life is a lonely one’ may be true for some but there is always some way to connect. The internet has opened up the possibilities for virtual writing groups, fellow bloggers and a wealth of ‘writing’ information. Obviously some of this information is detrimental as there are scams galore – so beware and research thoroughly before committing to any ‘pay up front’ requests.
I count myself very lucky to have found my circle and the fellowship I have found within it. If you are feeling isolated try contacting your library for local groups or even start one yourself. Meeting people with similar passions makes for a rewarding and happy life. So don’t wait – reach out.
If the idea of a virtual writers group appeals do feel free to look up my circle – The Writers Foundation of Strathcona County (www.wfscsherwoospark.com). We have local and virtual members galore with lots of genres represented. Once you are a member you can go to the member’s board and post work there. All work (unless specified) will have constructive critique commented on it. We hold respect for each others work as a high priority at all times.
Go and have a peek – go on!

Mandy is a true inspiration to all members of our group in that she is selfless in promotion – the group has given to her the place for her to grow and expand her craft, yet has not taken from her anything in return because as a group we encourage a writer’s individuality and creativity – some groups expect change from their members so they can all be the same as if that might streamline membership. Our group does not – be yourself, share with others, find encourage and offer support – we have it all, including Mandy 🙂
