Bibliophile’s Collective Tuesday – Reading Freedom and Cleaning Bookcases

This week we celebrate Freedom to Read Week in Canada on 18th – 24th February. During the week Canadians have the opportunity to discuss a range of subjects, such as book challenges, censorship, representation in literature, intellectual freedom, access to information, and the literary community’s and the role of libraries. Books that are banned, due to arbitrary constrains unfortunately void the general populace from learning history, among other things, and learning from it. We all know the listed banned books and we, as readers, fight against them. Happy reading!

Which banned books have you read?

And on the 20th it’s Clean Out Your Bookcase Day. Now, please don’t panic, it does not mean clear out your bookcases, just clean and reorganize them. Whew! If you are like me there is always a crowded shelf of ‘to be read’ books, a shelf of local author books (all duly signed), and several shelves of favorites that I love too much to part with. Mostly, apart from the TBR shelf which is packed full, I organize in height.

How do you arrange your shelves? Cover colour, alphabetically, height, genre or something else?
