Bibliophile’s Collective Tuesday – National Friends of Libraries Week

We celebrate National Friends of the Libraries Week, October 20 – 26, each year to recognize the dedication of Friends groups across the country, and the world, including the US, Australia, France, South Africa, and the UK. The week coincides with October being Canadian Library Month! Since it’s inception in 2005, the tireless dedication to local libraries of individuals is recognized. As nonprofit groups run by volunteers they are independent of the library administration and sponsor, plan, or host a variety of programs and events, such as Books for Babies, the TD Summer Reading program, or Adopt-a-Book programs and more.

This year’s theme is “Ready, Set, Library!” emphasizing the role of libraries in unlocking new adventures and opportunities.

I am privileged to have a superb local library, where I host the monthly writers meetings, but also indulge in their book sales – yes, I do have a large TBR pile! And your point is?

Anyway, what do you love about your local library?
