Can you tell us about your new project?
Storyay is a revolutionary storytelling experience that delivers personalized, interactive letters straight to your home mailbox. With high-quality writing, beautiful illustrations, and stories that bring a child right into the action, Storyay ignites imaginations and nurtures a love for reading through fun and active participation.
How did the idea originate?
Kids have changed so much in the past decade and literature needed to catch up. Personalized, short form, interactive content is what kids are looking for and we wanted to find a way to bring this off of the screen and into literature. Storyay was the culmination of our passion, experience and expertise to disrupt the literature paradigm and try something no one has done before.
What do you hope to accomplish?
Storyay brings quality and value to children’s entertainment encouraging a love of reading. We are creating high quality, interactive stories personalized for a child and delivered in the mail without the use of AI. Our goal is to make Storyay the type of story that every child wants to read and every adult is happy to provide.
Do you envisage Storyay being a part of the education system or not?
At Stoyay we are trying to make our stories as accessible as possible. We hope to offer schools the opportunity to licence Storyay so that students can be provided our personalized letters to be used in classrooms or just for fun reading at home.
Has reading and writing always been a focus for you?
Ever since I was a child creating stories has been my passion. I was an avid reader from a very young age and began writing my own stories in early elementary school. Professionally I have been writing for close to 20 years. My goal has always been to create entertaining content that kids what to interact with whether that be reading, watching, or listening.
Do you feel storytelling is a fundamental skill?
Yes, I whole heartedly feel that storytelling is a fundamental skill and there are so many unique and valuable ways to tell a story.
Has your background in the advertising and entertainment industry helped?
My background in children’s advertising and entertainment has been hugely helpful. Literature is another form of entertainment and I feel that my knowledges of what entertains and engages kids in different forms translates well into creating stories children want to read and interact with.
How do you create the personalized letters?
Our tech advisor has built a robust system that allows each letter to be personalized to the child. When you sign up for a subscription there will be a series of questions including the child’s name and their favourite things in many categories. Once the questions are complete our system finds the spots in the stories where we have written in customization points and updates them with the child’s answer making each and every letter unique.
Can other authors be a part of the project?
Absolutely! We are looking into creating content partnerships where we take existing works and turn them into a Storyay as well as working with authors who are looking to create a unique Storyay from an idea that hasn’t been written yet.
Where can people find Storyay?
Storyay is starting with a Kickstarter in February where we are looking to get support to help us market and manufacture the stories. This will allow early access and exclusive perks before Storyay is available anywhere else. We would love for you to find us there! https://swiy.co/Storyay
