So this month has a host of bibliophile celebrations. It is National Literacy month, library card sign up month, and read a new book month. So take your pick, or celebrate all of them!

We all know literacy is important for education, but also it should be a way to learn about and enjoy the world around us, as well as expand our imaginations and those of the younger generation.

Libraries play such an important part in their communities, allowing residents to read, research, gather and learn. Love and support your library!

As for read a new book, the statement is open to interpretation. Is it a new book you just got, or a new genre, or an author you are discovering? Whichever, it is enjoy.

It is also Read an E-book Day tomorrow. For many having one of these devices helps with traveling, whether on a commute, or further afield for vacations. Being able to contain multiple books onto one device is the ultimate in convenience. I can understand their appeal. However, for me paperbacks are king, it is the weight, texture, smell of the novel that adds to my personal enjoyment of reading. Yes, I lug multiple books on vacations, and usually buy more, but everyone to their own – right?

What is your preference – paperback, hardback, or e-reader?

Happy reading!
