Many of us are in a quandary over whether to participate in National Novel Writing Month this year, or not. After reading all the documentation, I have decided to enter only a manual word count figure, (the same as every year) and not copy and paste any of my work, that way they do not have access to my verbiage.
The actual AI program is called Living Writer. It is a Writing App available if you choose to use it on the NaNoWriMo site. Much like Scrivener, Grammarly, FocusWriter, yWriter etc.
To the question : Does NaNoWriMo View Or Use My Writing the official website states:
No, they don’t.
Users of our main website, NaNoWriMo.org, do not type their work directly into our interface, nor do they save or upload their work to our website in any way. On our main website, we do not have access to what you are writing and therefore cannot access, harvest, or otherwise use your written work.
Though certain writing apps integrate with our goal tracking feature, information passed between the NaNoWriMo API and the APIs of third-party apps only involves word count information and does not contain your written work itself.
This statement and my own actions allays my fears about AI harvesting my written work. So, as I plummet into NaNo this year, ensure you feel comfortable, informed and confident before joining.
My project: You Take All of Me - Spicy romance.

Happy writing.
