Bibliophile’s Collective Tuesday – Water, Air and Earth Day

Although, as a Gemini, I am supposedly an air sign, it is water that draws me. It is the element that resonates deep in my soul, it relaxes and calms me. I was told by my parents that on my first trip to the 'seaside' I crawled into the waves without a care. My father had to pull me out, only to find a broad smile on my face. Ever since any body of water has fascinated me. In England, of course, I was surrounded by water, but here in Alberta, a land locked province, I have to make do with lakes and waterfalls, of which there are numerous! It is the lapping of waves, the crash of surf, the gentle undulations of the water, whether salty or not, that talk to my soul. My mind is free of every day chatter and I can be one with the moment.

Looking at the traits of both air and water signs, I can see that I have both, may be its because I'm a Gemini, who knows?

Traits of air signs:  typically extremely intelligent, elusive and hard to read, “communicators” of the zodiac, adventurous and fun-loving nature, make decisions with their head rather than on sheer emotion, are philosophical and they often ponder life’s big questions and free-spirits who can’t be controlled.

Traits of water signs: crazy observant and they notice basically everything, have intense emotions that can overcome them like a tidal wave, have racing minds and they often get lost deep in thought, crave a sense of inclusion and they go to great lengths to seek it out, can be easily distracted and kinda indecisive, are mysterious and they hold their cards close to their chest, and ooze creativity and their imaginations are bound by zero limits. This last one speaks of my writing, obviously.

So does your element match your personality?

Today is Earth Day. This planet is our only home, we need to look after it.

On my recent trip down to Lethbridge to present a session and sit on a couple of panels for a writing conference, the trip down and home, as well as on the Sunday were opportunities to explore. One place visited was Carmangay, which is the site of a collection of tipi stones. A rare occurrence in the history of this vast land and its original people. It is s sad that this history was 'lost' / wiped out.

We could learn so much about living with our Earth Mother.
