As book lovers we gravitate to bookstores as though there is a magnetic force compelling us to enter. Of course, there are as many types of bookstores as there are genres. Each one has its own unique personality from the big box stores with their brash inventory of best sellers and stacks of items that have everything and anything in relation to reading, to the more comfortable and 'hugging' style of an independent bookstore.

I am happy to have my books in three very different bookstores.

Sherwood Park Bookworm in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Although, the primary stock is good quality second hand books, the proprietor supports and showcases local authors and even hosts author events. It has a cozy, friendly vibe with knowledgeable staff, who allow you to browse without any pressure.

Pandora’s Boox Bookstore, Olds, Alberta. The store is unusual in it has a gaming culture alongside the book shelves and a tea bar. So you can enter to find table's full of gamers and excitement as well as book browsers and tea drinkers. It is a lively place. They also support Alberta authors, with specific shelves allocated for them, which cool.

Book Nook – Lavender & Lace Boutique, Sherwood Park, Alberta. You would not expect a boutique to have a book store inside, but this one does. It is such an incredible space with lots of romance novels including many from local authors and great clothes too.

Do you have a local bookstore you frequent? What 'vibe' does it have?
