There are multitude ways to promote your novels, from in person events to online social media sites, interviews, author readings and more. Other ideas are holding a prize draw at an event, or an online contest for a free copy of your book, or maybe as a guest at a book club.
I utilize a contest to promote a specific book of mine, Rumble’s First Scare. I hold a colouring competiton in partnership with a local bookstore, The Sherwood Park Bookworm. This kids picture book is set at Halloween, so I utilize the month of October, coming up to Halloween, to hold the competition. My cute little monster, Rumble’s story is set at All Hallows Eve.
This is the beginning of the prize basket for this year, I have a few more things to add. Included items: Scary story book, Rumble bookmark and T-shirt, monster hat, slime ball, silly putty, and a toy monster that lights up.

I have a colouring sheet made up so the kids can colour as they wish with details of their name, address and parental permission, which is vital.

If you are in the area, why not drop by and pick up a colouring sheet? The Sherwood Park Bookworm, 120 Wye Rd #133
