WORDSMITH’S COLLECTIVE THURSDAY – BOOKSTORE AND AUTHOR WORK TOGETHER

Home » Blog » WORDSMITH’S COLLECTIVE THURSDAY – BOOKSTORE AND AUTHOR WORK TOGETHER

I am extremely grateful for my local bookstore, The Sherwood Park Bookworm for working with me to host a children's colouring contest. As my little monster, Rumble's story takes place at Halloween it is the perfect time of the year to get kids involved and read the book!

I don't run the contest every year, it takes a lot to organize and coordinate and I don't want to make the bookstore owner feel pressured. After all they don't have to host and promote the contest, or my book, Although this store does stock all my books. The event is mutually beneficial and tht's why it works.

This year's winner was so excited to receive his gift basket filled with monster inspired goodies, including a Rumble T-shirt and a monster toque.

When we (authors) are promoting our books, having a specific season, or celebratory day attached to it, allows us to utilize that to our advantage. During the year I collect items that are suitable for Rumble, but also for any of my other books, so at any time I can create a draw basket.

Are any of your books date specific?

How do you use that to promote the book?
