So we have a multitude of literary celebrations and ‘days’ this month, including D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Month, National Card and Letter Writing Month, National Poetry Month, National Literature Month, School Library Month. In addition just this week are – 1st – Reading is Funny Day, 2nd – International Children’s Book Day, and Children’s Picture Book Day and 4th – National School Librarian Day. So enjoy!

I have been busy planning for my presenter and panelist roles at the Lethbridge, Alberta writing conference – Wordbridge mid April. I hope I will also have time to get some timeline plotting organized for my current work in progress – spicy romance!
As you know I love to read as well as write, but it is not often I read biographies. In fact the one I am reading is probably only the third, or fourth one I have bought (or borrowed from the library!) Not sure why to be honest, maybe because I love make-believe rather than reality? Anyway, my latest is Naturally Tan by Tan France. To glimpse another’s person’s inner being and life experience makes them vulnerable, but incredibly brave in my opinion. Interestingly, his ethnicity is Pakistani, although he grew up in England. My first real best friend was the same. It never occurred to me that she had different coloured skin to me, she was just my friend, Ingrid. Children are so accepting with no bias’. They ‘see’ the inner person and personality.

Have you read a genre out of your ‘normal’ reading genre? Why did you buy/borrowed it? What was it? What did you think of it?
